About

The Volkswagen Type 4 is a family car produced by Volkswagen from 1968 to 1974. It was the first Volkswagen model to feature a rear-mounted, air-cooled engine and was available as a two-door or four-door sedan, as well as a two-door station wagon. The Type 4 was designed as a larger, more luxurious alternative to the popular Volkswagen Beetle and was only sold in Europe and North America. Despite its advanced design, the Type 4 was not a commercial success and was eventually replaced by the Volkswagen Passat.
