About
Daewoo was a South Korean conglomerate that was founded in 1967 and operated in various industries including automobiles, electronics, shipbuilding, and construction. However, in the late 1990s, Daewoo faced financial difficulties due to mismanagement and excessive borrowing, leading to its eventual collapse. The company was dismantled and its various divisions were sold off or restructured. Today, the Daewoo brand name is no longer used for automobiles, as General Motors acquired Daewoo Motor in 2002 and rebranded it as GM Korea.
